Klaus Tamm

Internationally acclaimed photographer

Aufwind

Klaus Tamm is a renowned German nature photographer celebrated for his evocative and atmospheric images that capture the fragile beauty of the natural world. His unique style, often described as “painting with the lens,” invites viewers into a surreal realm where light and shadow dance over remote landscapes and elusive wildlife.

Born in 1961 in Wuppertal, Germany, Klaus was raised in a family of hunters, which fostered his early fascination with nature. Inspired by wildlife photography in his father’s hunting magazines, he acquired his first SLR camera as a teenager. In 2005, he transitioned to digital photography, dedicating himself fully to capturing nature’s ephemeral moments.

His work has earned numerous accolades in prestigious international competitions, including multiple awards from the GDT (Society of German Nature Photographers) and the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year. Notably, his black-and-white photograph “Krötenwanderung” (Toad Migration) won the GDT Nature Photographer of the Year in 2012. In 2015, his image “Marsh Gladiolus” triumphed in a field of 242 GDT members from seven countries
