Marcel Everts is a Dutch filmmaker and musician renowned for his multifaceted creative endeavors. With a background in music, he has been part of several bands, including Splinter, Wide Open, FUSE, and ABBA-Fever. His musical journey has seen him perform alongside renowned artists and at major festivals. In addition to his musical pursuits, Marcel has ventured into filmmaking, producing his debut nature documentary, De Achtertuin van Kees (Kees’ Backyard), which premiered in October 2024.
The film emerged from a serendipitous encounter with Kees Ravensbergen, a lifelong resident of the Veluwe who had amassed a vast collection of unique wildlife footage over the years. Upon discovering this treasure trove of “found footage,” Marcel collaborated with Kees to craft a poignant narrative that showcases the intimate beauty of the Veluwe’s natural world. The documentary offers viewers an immersive experience, capturing the essence of the region’s diverse ecosystems and wildlife.
Beyond his artistic endeavors, Marcel is deeply passionate about nature and often finds solace and inspiration in the great outdoors. His work reflects a commitment to preserving and celebrating the natural world, inviting audiences to reconnect with the environment through the lens of his camera.
